In an effort to help, reach, and transform the surrounding communities of the mine we are working to transform the lives of the rural people of Puno with initiatives possible thanks to generous contributions of people and companies supporting them.
Above is the link to our Go Fund Me page. Any amount will help towards this good cause.
Wifi - Internet
Because of Covid-19, all schools in Peru and in Puno have shut down and gone online. The community around the mines (Vilques) does not have WiFi therefore children must walk miles and miles just to reach radio waves so that they can do their classes. Our plan is to raise enough money so that we can buy routers and access points for the area so they can continue their education without having to walk miles to get radio waves and get internet.
Raising cattle in high altitude has caused many issues in Puno, Peru, a community at 12,800 ft altitude. Inbreeding of their livestock has decreased milk production over 50% and survival rates are low. With the purchase of 2 bulls and a new program of artificial insemination, we intend to vary the genetic pool thus improving cattle survival rates, milk production and avoid abnormalities in the livestock.
Anemia is a serious issue in Peru and in the Puno region in particular. One of the causes of anemia is poor hygiene. Our plan is to guide them and teach them how to be more healthy. One way we thought of to help them was to create a campaign with posters that would teach children proper hand washing techniques. To incentivize them, we have also created soaps that contain bracelets inside to motivate them to wash more frequently.
With mining comes a lot of left over sludge. Our goal is to raise enough money so that we can buy them a machine that will be able to turn the left over sludge from the mine into bricks that they can then sell. They would be then earning money and saving by turning the sludge into something resourceful.
